As dairy milk sales continue to slump it’s worth adding a few more nails to the coffin.
As more people and in particular, millennials, begin to choose dairy free alternatives, the dairy industry is in shock. Plant-based sales are higher than ever and that can only be a good thing. Dairy is scary.
Dairy is neither good for our health, the environment or the animals who are endlessly enslaved and tortured.
If you want to choose a healthier alternative, there’s plenty of options. Soy, oat, hemp, rice. They’re all options that are more healthy, more ethical and more sustainable.
Dairy has long been sold as the ‘fountain of youth’ and that we need it to make our bones strong.
This couldn’t be further from the truth. Dairy milk has been repeatedly shown to cause osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. The more a person drinks dairy milk, the more likely they will suffer from a bone-related condition in later life.
That’s not to say calcium doesn’t strengthen our bones. It does. It’s that dairy milk does the opposite and weakens them.
Then there’s the fat, protein, hormones and pus.
Dairy milk is exceptionally high in saturated fat and cholesterol. Saturated fat and cholesterol is the stuff that clogs your arteries and causes the onset of atherosclerosis. The one main ingredient for a heart attack. Brilliant.
There’s an easy fix though. Choosing plant-based milks means you’ll be consuming next to no saturated fat and cholesterol. Protecting yourself against heart attacks.
The hormones in milk are designed to turn a baby calf into a full-sized cow. It’s meant for infant calves. Just as human breast milk is meant for infant humans.
You can understand then, that consumption of dairy milk is going to add a large amount of weight, that weight gain will be rapid too.
We’re the only species dumb enough to think we need the milk from another animal except our own mother and yet we complain when a huge portion of our population are overweight and suffer with health conditions.
This isn’t even touching on the ethical and environmental issues surrounding the consumption of dairy.
How mothers carry a child only for the calf to be taken at birth. I’m sure you can imagine the pain that would cause a human mother. A cow is no different. They’re still sensitive and emotional, sentient beings. The same as you and me.
