In today’s Veggie Athletic Weekly News Digest: Pret A Manger launches exclusive ‘veggie fridges’; Michael Gove named Environmental Secretary, the worst possible appointment; What The Health arrives on Netflix; Miley Cyrus hosts vegan BBQ.
After Pret hit headlines last year, introducing vegan and vegetarian options in Pret A Manger stores nationwide, they have announced their next step in the plant-based revolution. The brand will now be launching ‘veggie fridges’ in stores ‘up and down the country’.
It’s difficult to think of someone more incapable for this role than Michael Gove. As Theresa May announced her new cabinet, she revealed Michael Gove would be taking the role as Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, succeeding his predecessor Andrea Leadsom.

The vegan documentary, What The Health, will be launching on Netflix on June 16th.
From the creators of Cowspiracy, What The Health attempts to uncover the secrets the health organisations don’t want you to know.
Keegan Kuhn and Kip Anderson, the creators of the documentary, said: “The film follows intrepid filmmaker Andersen as he uncovers the secret to preventing and even reversing chronic diseases – and investigates why the nation’s leading health organisations don’t want us to know about it.”
Vegan Miley Cyrus has made the papers for a whole host of crazy stuff, however recently she seems to have found a more quiet path in life. Miley has hosted an entirely vegan BBQ at the iHeartSummer ’17 Weekend, getting stuck in and serving food such as hot dogs and pizzas.
Miley has been a confessed animal lover for years, however, it did take her a while to make the connection and go vegan.
