Handsome Her, an Australian-based vegan cafe, has introduced a ‘man tax’ in order to ‘balance gender inequality’.

The Melbourne-based cafe wants men to consider male privilege while women also receive priority seating.

Why you can’t be a true feminist and not be vegan.

Cafe owner Alex O’Brien said: “I do want people to think about it, because we’ve had this (pay discrepancy) for decades and decades and we’re bringing it to the forefront of people’s minds.

“I like that it is making men stop and question their privilege a little bit. There’s been nothing but positivity from everyone, males and females.”

The additional cash will be donated to the Elizabeth Morgan House, a charity which supports Aboriginal women and children.

While O’Brien claims its been only positive feedback in-store, many on social media, vegans, men and women alike, simply disagree with the concept.

Many claim that it simply promotes further inequality between genders and ‘makes vegans look stupid’. Or, that instead of promoting equality they may of perhaps swung the other way towards female privilege.
